Natural Hormone Balance for Women using Herbal Medicine

Hi I'm Gabby. As a Naturopath, I use targeted herbal remedies to support estrogen and progesterone modulation, reduce symptom severity, and improve hormonal resilience.

What inspires me most is helping women feel heard and validated. Too often, our symptoms are dismissed or minimised.

I want you to know that your symptoms are real — and that there are natural, effective solutions available.

One of the most effective and well-researched herbs is Vitex (Chaste Tree), known for balancing estrogen dominance and regulating the menstrual cycle. Another key herb is Sage, often used to reduce hot flushes and night sweats. These herbs are available in liquid or capsule form and are prescribed based on your individual presentation.

I’ve personally used these remedies to navigate my own menopause journey and continue to support women across all reproductive stages using these same tools.

Common Hormonal Concerns Women Seek Help For

Menstrual Cycle Imbalances

Many women experience irregular or unpredictable cycles, heavy bleeding, severe cramping, and intense PMS or PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder).

These symptoms are often brushed off as "normal" when they are actually signs of deeper hormonal imbalance that can be treated naturally.

Fertility and Reproductive Health

Hormone-related challenges are common, including difficulty regulating menstrual cycles post-pregnancy, pre-conception care, and cycle tracking.

Some women simply want their cycle to feel more manageable, even if pregnancy is not their goal.

Hormonal Changes

Perimenopause and Menopause Symptoms

Hot flushes, night sweats, poor sleep, mood swings, and aching joints are all typical during perimenopause and menopause. For some, these symptoms are mild and transient. For others, they can persist for years.

Natural therapies can make a significant difference to your daily quality of life.

Nutrition Strategies for Hormonal Health

Seed Cycling and Hormone-Supportive Foods

Seed cycling is a food-based strategy that uses specific seeds to support the balance of natural estrogen and progesterone in your body.

This gentle rhythm involves eating:

  • linseeds and pumpkin seeds in the first half of the cycle, followed by
  • sesame and sunflower seeds in the second half of your cycle.

This method is gentle, cost-effective, and popular among women looking for natural fertility and hormone support. For clients interested in trying seed cycling, I provide tailored recipes and meal planning guidance.

Practical and Enjoyable Meal Planning

Using my background as a qualified chef and nutritionist, I help make dietary changes feel achievable and nourishing — not restrictive. My clients receive custom food plans, shopping lists, and recipe ideas that align with their hormonal needs and lifestyle.

Clinical Testing

When to Consider Hormone Testing

Pathology and Functional Testing Options

While natural therapies often work well on their own, hormone testing can provide useful insights — especially if symptoms persist. Testing helps pinpoint specific imbalances and ensures your treatment plan is as targeted and effective as possible.
I offer:

  • DUTCH Test – the gold-standard urinary hormone test for women’s health. It not only measures your levels of key reproductive hormones like estrogen and progesterone, but also shows how your body is metabolising them. The DUTCH test also gives valuable insights into stress hormones, adrenal function, and certain nutrient markers — all of which can affect mood, sleep, weight, and cycle health.

  • GP Pathology Panels – cost-effective blood tests for things like zinc, B12, thyroid function, and iron, which all play a role in hormone health and energy. You don’t have to see a GP to access these tests — I can provide you with the request form, and you can take it directly to a pathology clinic. Of course, you can also go through your GP if you prefer. Either way, you’ll receive clear explanations of your results and what they mean for your health.

In many cases, we start with lifestyle changes, herbal medicine, and nutrition first. If we need more clarity, we layer in testing to guide the next stage of your personalised treatment plan.

Yes. Every plan is personalised — and can be combined with medical treatments if needed. I also work closely with clients in my online naturopath appointments service if travel is difficult.

Seed cycling is a gentle, food-based method to support natural estrogen and progesterone balance throughout your menstrual cycle. It involves eating specific seeds during different phases of your cycle to encourage hormonal harmony. Many clients also use it alongside other nutrition strategies from my nutritionist and gut health service.

Not always. Many women experience excellent results through lifestyle, nutrition, and herbal support alone. However, if symptoms persist, I offer advanced hormone testing such as the DUTCH test (a gold-standard urinary hormone profile) or targeted blood tests, which you can organise directly through me without needing a GP referral.

Yes. Naturopathic care can be used alongside prescribed hormone therapy such as HRT (hormone replacement therapy) or the pill.
